Winters here are mild by Canadian standards, but they're long, damp, and windy off the Strait of Georgia — the kind of cold that gets into an older house through single-pane windows and a crawlspace rather than hitting deep negative numbers on a thermometer. A lot of Vancouver Island's housing stock still runs on electric baseboard heaters or an aging oil furnace installed decades ago, and a growing share of it never had ductwork installed at all.

That mix is why we work across the full range of heating equipment instead of pushing one system: gas and oil furnaces for homes that already have ducting, ducted or ductless heat pumps for homes converting off baseboard or oil, and boilers for houses built around radiators or in-floor radiant heat. On the heat pump and furnace side that means Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Carrier, Keeprite, Goodman, and Trane — a range rather than one house brand, because the right unit depends on the house and not on what a contractor happens to stock. Strata councils on multi-unit buildings often have their own rules about where an outdoor heat pump unit can go, and coastal salt air is hard on unprotected outdoor equipment — both are things we plan around before we quote the job, not after it starts.

A heat pump swap often touches more than just the furnace closet. A house moving from a boiler to forced air needs its ductwork and its water heater tie-ins planned together rather than as an afterthought, and a house coming off baseboard heat needs the heat loss worked out room by room before any equipment is chosen. Heating and plumbing are both ours, so that side of the work is scoped as one job instead of two contractors meeting for the first time on site.
